Sugarview Carriage House
Sugarview is a magnificent southerly facing parcel on the side of a mountain in Mad River Valley, VT which overlooks the Sugarbush ski resort. The Carriage House, as it has since become, is carefully nestled into the side of a steep hillside.
The massing is broken down into two major architectural elements - a solid base clad in Barre Gray VT granite with ipe siding and a fully cantilevered triangular cap encased in rough sawn red cedar with a metal roof. The materials and details are simple and crisp, each element sensitively connected to each other.
The lower level is an over-sized two car garage that includes a workshop with self-contained guest quarters above. The interior finish is primarily made up of vertical grain fir, Baltic birch, Barre Gray granite and white plaster. The decks are ipe with stainless steel railings.
The Main House which will eventually seamlessly integrate itself into the overall master plan.
