Renovation

Sagamore Beach, MA

Our clients inherited this shingled bungalow built in 1927. They decided to make it their primary residence and develop a master plan that would complement a contemporary lifestyle. Both are accomplished in culinary arts so a new kitchen was a primary component. An open kitchen/dining area was created behind a glazed wall looking east over the rolling hillside to Cape Cod Bay. The existing porch under a gently curved roof became a wraparound porch connecting the expanded dining area. In addition, a master suite was added on the main level with a private entrance from a new deck shared with the kitchen. The expanded lower level now houses a spacious game room with ocean views. The second floor plan now includes a study and additional bedrooms. The central foyer sits below a glazed roof that allows light to filter down to the main level. Architectural detail, additional glazing, and creation of exterior space transformed the introverted building into a transparent, open plan with multiple views.
