St. Louis, MO
What was once a one story, white brick and clapboard cottage in the suburb of Town & Country, Missouri has been completely remodeled from top to bottom. The existing roof was raised to convert what was once a little used attic storage area into usable space. Evidence of the addition is hardly noticeable from the street, maintaining its cozy cottage appearance.
The site slopes towards the south on the back of the house, allowing for a volumetric, bright and breezy sunroom addition that opens wide to the garden. The room also serves as a studio classroom for the Owner’s art classes. The second floor houses both the Master Suite which opens onto a trellised roof deck with spa above the sunroom and a secondary bedroom and balcony which overlooks the garden below.
Outside, new paths, patios and landscape embrace it all, comfortably minimizing the barrier from inside to outside.
