On a small corner lot near Duxbury’s public beach once sat a rundown one-story summer cottage with a constantly flooded basement. Our clients wished to construct a new larger basement-free multi-story residence, thereby eliminating the continuous flooding problem and provide additional living space. The new 3BR home is organized in such a way to allow views over the marsh to the west and to Cape Cod Bay to the east. The ground level houses the entry foyer, screened porch, two secondary bedrooms with a shared game room. The second level contains the main living areas within a completely open plan and a central double-sided fireplace. Roof decks are accessible from every space with multiple views. The third level houses the master bedroom suite which encompasses the entire roof arewith a roof deck that faces the ocean with expansive views. Operable skylights, open planning and many windows provide cross ventilation that passively cools the building during the summer season.​  ​
