Bungalow Custom Kitchen

Buzzards Bay,  MA

Our Arts and Crafts bungalow is an “Aladdin Built-in-a-Day House” which was transported to Buzzards Bay from Bay City, MI by train in 1920. The original rear portion of the house was divided down the middle, separating the kitchen from the dining room. We decided to expand the rear of the house to provide a study / guest room and an additional bath on the first floor which overlooks the gardens. From there we moved internally to redesign the kitchen and dining area. A large opening was added connecting the kitchen and dining room. Glazing was added to the entire dining room wall which opens out onto a wood deck and gardens beyond. The design intent was to create a “room” complementary to the spirit of the original Arts and Crafts bungalow which would house a kitchen. The entire space (walls, floors, trim, window seat and cabinetry) is constructed with southern yellow pine panels and 200 year old reclaimed heart pine which closely resembles the existing woodwork. All cabinetry is detailed as built-in furnishings.
