Amaden
Penobscot Boat Works (1960)
Amaden is a 19’ Sea-O-Ramic runabout built in 1960 by Penobscot Boat Works for the editor of Down East Magazine. These lapstrake runabouts were very popular in the 50’s and 60’s. Very few of the hundreds built are still in existence due to the mass produced construction techniques for what was considered an expendable commodity during that time. We purchased her as a restoration project in 1993 and continued for fourteen years. She has been completely rebuilt and upgraded using modern construction methods where applicable including new frames, bottom, sheer planks, deck, windshield and interior with custom milled teak sole. New electrical, mechanical and steering systems were also updated during the rebuild process. Amaden is garaged and primarily trailered around New England to allow exploration in both fresh and salt water environs.
